National Picnic Month - July

This month is a celebration dedicated to the joys of picnicking and spending time outdoors with family and friends. With this in mind we have decided to celebrate by having a picnic every week on a different day so all our clients get to enjoy it.

Picnics offer a wealth of benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing. They provide opportunities to connect with nature, strengthen bonds with loved ones, and enjoy delicious food in a relaxed setting. Furthermore, picnics can boost mood, reduce stress and promote physical activity while connecting with nature.

Harvest Celebration

So this year we decided for the first time to hold a Harvest Celebration. We thought about all the things that Harvest Festival symbolizes.
Gratitude for a bountiful harvest, acknowledging the abundance provided by nature.
So what are the traditions of harvest in the UK we wondered? So we found out.
Church bells were rung on each day of the harvest,
A corn dolly was crafted from the last sheaf of corn harvested,
The horse bringing the last cartload was usually decorated with garlands of flowers ribbons,
A fantastic feast would be held at the local farmers house and games were played to celebrate.
Our very generous Clients and their families donated seasonal produce. We then invited Gate House Foodbank to our Time Out Club where all our donations were gathered together and 2 of our lovely Clients were ready to greet them and hand over the delicious goodies.
With this years great success we will most definitely do this again.

First Barbeque

First Barbeque this Summer

We have been looking forward to the rain stopping so we can finally have a barbeque in the garden. Our clients thoroughly enjoyed the barbeques last year. We have kept a close eye on the weather and grabbed the first opportunity to get outside for some Alfresco Dining.

A Testimonial too good not to share

My dad was apprehensive about coming to Time Out so we attended a taster session together and even after this short session he wanted to go back. The staff are caring, supportive and use humour with him, which he thoroughly enjoys. The activities planned are wonderful, tying in with themed days, national events or celebrating special focus days. The staff regularly plan external visitors who provide sessions of dancing, singing, gentle exercises, and a variety of interesting craft activities. Many of these activities I was unsure if my dad would want to get involved with or enjoy, but he absolutely loves them!

A fabulous, two course, home cooked meal is provided, along with snacks and drinks throughout the day, which dad will often say he cannot remember the meal but he always enjoys it.

For us as a family, it gives us knowledge that dad not only has a safe place to go during the day, he is so well looked after and is cared for and has a range of activities to continue to keep his mind and body active. For dad, when we pick him up, he will often not be able to remember what he has done that day, however he remembers how he feels and will always say that he loves going to his club and each time he goes it gets better. Dad often says, "I don't know who found this place, but it's one of the best things you've done." To us, that is the best recommendation we could have.

Welcoming nature to our garden: our new bird table

We’re thrilled to share that our beautiful bird table is ready for the birds to feed! Adding a bird table to our garden has been a wonderful decision, and we’re excited to see the local wildlife enjoy it.

Setting up our bird table

We’ve placed our bird table in a quiet, sheltered part of the garden, away from potential predators. It’s filled with a variety of seeds and nuts to cater to different bird species. Regular cleaning and refilling will ensure it remains a hygienic and attractive feeding spot.

The joy of birdwatching

Since setting up the bird table, we’ve already spotted a few visitors. Watching these beautiful creatures up close is both relaxing and educational. It’s fascinating to observe their behaviours and interactions.
