Welcoming nature to our garden: our new bird table

We’re thrilled to share that our beautiful bird table is ready for the birds to feed! Adding a bird table to our garden has been a wonderful decision, and we’re excited to see the local wildlife enjoy it.

Why a bird table?

A bird table offers several benefits:

  • Attracting wildlife: It provides a safe and accessible spot for birds to feed, encouraging a variety of species to visit.
  • Supporting birds: Especially during colder months, it helps birds find food easily.
  • Enjoying nature: It creates opportunities for birdwatching right from your home, bringing joy and a sense of connection to nature.

Setting up our bird table

We’ve placed our bird table in a quiet, sheltered part of the garden, away from potential predators. It’s filled with a variety of seeds and nuts to cater to different bird species. Regular cleaning and refilling will ensure it remains a hygienic and attractive feeding spot.

The joy of birdwatching

Since setting up the bird table, we’ve already spotted a few visitors. Watching these beautiful creatures up close is both relaxing and educational. It’s fascinating to observe their behaviours and interactions.

Tips for your own bird table

  • Location: Choose a spot that’s safe and easily visible from your home.
  • Food: Provide a variety of food to attract different species.
  • Maintenance: Keep the table clean and regularly topped up with fresh food.

We hope our experience inspires you to welcome birds into your own garden. A bird table is a simple addition that brings countless moments of delight.

Today at the Time Out Club we had another fabulous visit from the Wesley Ukulele Band. Our clients always thoroughly enjoy this music session. It gives us a chance to get our musical instruments out so everyone can feel involved. Being part of group activities provide major benefits including improved social connection and enhanced brain stimulation. Taking part in shared experiences helps people stay active and feel valued. The Ukulele is classed as one of the happiest instruments due to its bright sound. With years of experience, we have learned how music is a powerful tool for people living with Dementia because it improves wellbeing, can trigger long term memories and reduce anxiety. Singing uses different parts of the brain than regular speech, we are already looking forward to their next visit.

What a fabulous start to 2026 we have had here at The Time Out Club. All our usual annual celebrations that always bring added joy to all our clients. With the addition of the World Cup, that didn’t end the way we had all hoped. Trying out new activities and new recipes especially for desserts. Enjoying our regular visits from local music groups, along with running our own music sessions. When it was time to start thinking about the weather warming up we obviously took great pride in getting our beautiful garden ready. Only to have to look at it from our wonderful, air-conditioned building due to the prolonged heatwave. To ensure our clients and staff stayed hydrated during this period we were buying 80 ice lollies a week. We have proudly raised money with the help of our wonderful Clients and their families for Alzheimer’s society a charity close to all our hearts. Huge thank you all again. As we look towards the end of July we are preparing for our 9th Birthday Celebrations. Which we are very proud and excited about. Watch this space for lots more to come.
